St.Phillips A.B.C. (Amalgamated Badminton Club)
Welcome to our badminton club. Here you will find details about our club and this will hopefully give you an insight into the club and answer any questions that you may have, but if there are others then please feel free to contact the committee or other club members.
Club Membership:
Our club consists of approximately 25 to 30 members and the playing standard ranges from lower divisions up to County. We play at Scaltback Middle School, off Elizabeth Avenue in Newmarket and have use of three courts. We are a league-playing club. At the moment are unable to take on beginners as we currently do not have the resources available for coaching. We play with feather shuttlecocks.
Club Nights:
Our club nights are on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 10.00pm. Our season runs from the beginning of September to the end of April. We also run a Summer club from May to July, depending on demand, which is on a pay and play basis. We take August off to recover !
Playing as a guest:
You are welcome to attend a maximum of three club nights as a guest, paying a guest fee of £3.50 (or £2.00 if you are a junior/student).

What it costs:
Our annual subscription / membership fee is currently £70 per year (£35 for juniors/students) with a £10 penalty fee if you are an existing member who fails to pay the subscription by 1st October. A reduced subscription may be offered to new members joining part way through the season.
Attendance at club night is paramount to a successful club as is member co-operation, so we expect members to help with setting up and tidying away (i.e. posts, nets, sorting shuttles, etc). Everyone should aim to arrive as near to 7:30pm as possible.
Matches:
We play our home matches on a Friday night from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. We currently field the following teams:
•Newmarket Badminton League four teams: two Mens teams (of 4 players), one Womens team (of 4 players) and one Mixed team (of 6 players)
•South Cambs League three teams: one Mens team (of 6 players), one Womens team (of 6 players) and a Mixed team (of 6 players).
Match fees are £3.50 per match (both home and away), £2.00 for juniors/students.
